This is not the first time that a local manufacturer has won a major award this Year – but the pinnacle of its profession has just been reached.

Power Efficient Systems which trades as EnergyAce has been recognised in the prestigious Electrical Contractors Association (ECA) awards 2015.

The Skelmersdale-based enterprise picked up the Contractor of the Year – in the category for businesses with up to £5 Million turnover.

The presentation was made in the QE11 Conferencing Centre in London to Husband and Wife team, Gary and Eileen Vizard. They beat off fierce competition from Faradays Limited, Amalgamated Limited, Lantei Limited and N Smith Electrical. Energy Ace was also shortlisted for Best Innovative Contractor by the ECA in this same Ceremony.

Gary, Eileen and the Team have become no strangers to such accolades. They are also Finalists in three categories (manufacturer of the year, small business of the year and entrepreneur of the year) in the BIBAs – The Be Inspired Business Awards, Lancashire’s largest and longest running business awards programme and will find out in September if there is more silverware to be polished.

Gary commented: “We’ve gone and won it! This is a real boost to our Company and is testimony to the efforts of all our staff and our customers that we serve. I suppose we’ll need to get a bigger trophy cabinet now”.

BEFORE THE CAMPAIGN for Real Ale (CAMRA) beer more froth than liquid fizzed into your pint. So it is with Voltage Optimisation (VO), rather than modern Voltage Management (VM.) A cheap, keg product neither does the job nor suits your taste. At worst it leaves you with a nasty hangover. Energy in Buildings and Industry magazine sought EnergyAce MD, Gary Vizard’s, view on guaranteeing savings as well as controlling and protecting equipment …and avoiding extra electricity charges.

Cutting the Mustard

FOOD MANUFACTURER Mustard Foods found their growth plans constrained by the size of their connection to the electricity grid. They were unable to expand due to lack of spare substation capacity and needed help to unlock growth potential.

As part of a Manufacturing Advisory Service review (MAS), Sustainability Consultants Brite Green identified EnergyAce as a highly cost-effective element in unlocking Mustard Foods’ potential.

Brite Green’s Darren Chadwick says:

“EnergyAce’s voltage optimisation unit was identified as a quick win: It had an attractive payback of 18 months and offered energy efficiency improvements across the whole site.”

EnergyAce could be installed with only very minor disruption to production. Alongside other efficiency options including LED lighting and optimising shift patterns, it enables 30% – 40% increase in production capacity before a new substation will be required.

Client feedback

“We looked at a wide range of energy efficiency technologies and solutions as part of our review for Mustard Foods. Voltage optimisation was an attractive option, both from an ease of implementation and payback perspective, and we were very happy with the service that EnergyAce provided.”

Wigan Green Warriors

Uncategorized No Comments

This unique, innovative scheme has been launched to help organisations in sectors including education, healthcare, retail, construction, property, manufacturing and leisure to reduce carbon, improve sustainability strategy and substantially reduce energy use and costs.

EnergyAce is proud to sponsor the Wigan Warriors Community Foundation and Maloney Associates “I’M A GREEN WARRIOR” campaign to educate, advise and support the development of a greener community. The project is based on an already successful model which has led to the creation of the award winning ‘Reds Going Green’ campaign at Liverpool FC and the ‘From Boardroom to Bootroom’ campaign at Manchester United FC.

This innovative campaign is like nothing else currently being delivered in the borough; the Warriors Foundation want to lead the way in decreasing the carbon footprint in Wigan. The I’m a Green Warrior campaign will engage hundreds of schools, colleges and businesses along with thousands of individuals to take part in the renewable energy agenda.

The clubs headquarters at CWM FX Central Park is already host to a state-of-the-art Education Centre, unparalleled sporting facilities, the highly reputable Wigan Warriors Youth Development Programme, and an assembly of reputable partners. In addition to this CWM FX Central Park will become an exemplar site for renewable energy with the latest technology, and will host a bespoke training facility to demonstrate the importance of renewable energy.

EnergyAce MD, Gary Vizard, said: “Helping the local community improve overall electrical efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and reduce electricity spend by up to 20% will be a benefit to individual organisations but also add to the prosperity and well being of our region.”

Commenting on the importance of the new initiative, Director of Community Development Wayne Joyce said:

“The community foundation has a core objectives surrounding health, well-being, education and improving the quality of people’s lives. Many people may not see renewable energy and reducing energy consumption as something that has direct impact on their day to day lives.

“This new and exciting project will educate and inform members of the local community, businesses and schools of the substantial environmental benefits that can be achieved in both the present time and for future generations to come.”

Keith Maloney, Director of Maloney Associates said:

“We are extremely pleased and proud to be commissioned as a strategic partner for Wigan Warriors Community Foundation. This exciting project will build upon the proven track record we have for substantially reducing the carbon footprint for many businesses, local authorities and prestigious sports clubs including Manchester United and Liverpool FC.

“The Hub will offer a unique energy and environmental service for delivering environmental benefits to the community whilst supporting the foundation to meet and exceed its core objectives. We look forward to working with the foundation, its partners and all members of the new energy exchange club.”

Championing the fantastic work of the Wigan Warriors Community Foundation, local MP Lisa Nandy said:

“The Warriors Foundation is one of, if not the best, Community Foundation’s in the country and the I’m a Green Warrior campaign is another example of the brilliant work they do. Renewable energy not only has the potential to bring down energy bills, it also promotes sustainability and helps us tackle climate change. It is vital that we raise awareness and encourage our children to learn more about the importance of renewables and that is why I am delighted to support this campaign.”
